Scrap iron prices are falling practically on a daily basis. Turkey is lowering prices daily and china is not buying at all (except iron ore) as they have excessive inventories.
Vietnam is still in the market around $350 - $360 MT CNF and India is in the $370 MT CNF range.
This past month Indonesian mills were active but I haven't heard anything about June yet.

Scrap Steel: Bullish On Demand, Bearish On Price
Demand for scrap iron remains strong. But with excess inventories of new steel why make more? The word on the street is demand for scrap steel with remain strong due to scrap shortages, but prices will remain "mysteriously" low.
Why does price matter? What difference does it make it you buy scrap iron for $250 MT and sell it for $270 MT or buy it at $470 MT and sell it for $490 MT?
Why spend more for the same margin???

Scrap Copper On A Price Rollercoaster
This past month copper went from 'in-demand' to 'every buyer ran away'. This past week Bright/Shiny went back to $3.10 lb. from it's "collapse" to $2.90 lb. two weeks ago. That small drop did not justify the panic than ensued.
When I started in scrap metal 19 years ago I used to get $0.70 lb. for Bright/Shiny. When it hit $1.00 lb. we thought that was incredible. So how about a little perspective.
